Taking control of trains

Jimmy Shergill, who plays a Deputy Commissioner of the ATS in Rajdhani Express: Point Blank Justice, says the most interesting part of the shooting was to get the opportunity to watch and learn how a personnel in the railway control room monitored train movements. "In the film an errand boy (Leander Paes) steals a gun and escapes in a Rajdhani Express travelling from Delhi to Mumbai. When caught by the authorities, he reacts by pointing the gun at the co-passengers. Since I play a Deputy Commissioner, my job was to bring things under control. I shot in the control room for most part of the film and was required to monitor the happenings to see that no untoward incident takes place in the train. It was very interesting to learn how the railway official monitor the trains on their wall panels. In fact, I also had to learn how to co-ordinate trains on the panels," says Jimmy, adding that a special control room was constructed at Marine Line station in Mumbai for the shoot.

Train sequences were shot in the real Rajdhani Express, while the dramatic action scenes with Leander, Priyanshu Chatterjee, Gulshan Grover and others were shot in a train constructed in Filmalaya Studios in Mumbai.

Written and directed by debutant Ashok Kohli, the film, a socio-political drama, also stars newbie Puja Bose, Kiran Kumar, Mukesh Rishi, Sudhanshu Pandey, Sayali Bhagat, Achint Kaur and Shilpa Shukla.
