  • By hosting Dance Premier League, the popular actor combines two things he does best — dancing and anchoring

Why did you choose to host Sony’s DPL when the wave of dance reality shows has just subsided?
I would be fooling no one if I say that a show like DPL has never been seen before. But what sets it apart is the presentation. With IPL, we saw that the combination of Bollywood and cricket works magic. Hence we are trying to recreate that by merging cricket with dance. Apart from calling it Dance Premier League, we will be using cricket lingo. We already have coaches and umpires on board. The rounds will be called matches and scores will be in terms of runs. This is what excites me about the show.

You are said to have replaced Eijaz Khan, who was to originally host DPL. Why?
That is a question you will need to ask the producers of the show. I was told that all selections were to happen through auditions but as far as I know, not all did. I was probably one such case.

With film stars as the major attraction and Rani Mukerji as the presiding authority whose arrogance is already being spoken about, do you have to juggle star egos?
My work does not need me to do any of that. As the anchor, I just host the show. On the sets we are all professionals but what happens behind the camera is something I am unaware of so I can’t comment on star egos.

    ... contd.
