  • You are back being a host on television after really long.
It feels like I never went anywhere. It seems like I was on a tiny break and now I am back.

What is The Rolling Stones Show all about?
The Rolling Stones magazine is a monthly magazine and it is not possible for the magazine to write about everything that happens during a month. The weekly show will hence bridge the gap. While it will talk about Indian independent acts like Parikrama, it will also keep a keen eye on international acts. Overall, it will help spread awareness about music.

What is the USP of the show?
It is the first of its kind show in India. Also in the 40 years The Rolling Stones magazine has been around there hasn’t been a television companion to the magazine. If you notice, there have been no shows in UK or the USA. India is the first place to have a show like this. And this one’s a great thumbs-up for the magazine as well as the music industry.

Is the show strictly for music lovers?
Not really, most people could learn a thing or two about music from here. This show is also for those who do not have access to the magazine.

Besides hosting the show, you also write about music for The Rolling Stones. How much do you think music has evolved in India today?
There has been a musical revolution, I would like to believe. Especially when it comes to indigenous bands, with more and more youngsters getting into the groove. Music in India is today divided into filmy and non-filmy and hence it gives a chance to many. It is indeed the best time for music right now.

Most musicians believe that Bollywood is a threat to other music genres. Do you believe so?
Not at all. Most people who lack belief in their music, term something else a threat. Bollywood is in fact a great platform to start off in the music industry.

From being a VJ to being a filmmaker, actor, writer, music director and now anchor, which role do you enjoyed the most?
Each one is an extension of another. Anchoring involves a bit of acting, so does a musical performance.

While acting, like writing, involves creativity. In the end, they are all inter-related. It’s like asking me to pick a favourite child.

Post Rock On!! everyone wants a slice of Luke Kenny. Are you planning to take up more film projects?
Definitely. Talks are on with a few directors, but nothing’s finalised as of now. I’m also planning on directing a film and I’m right now busy reading scripts.
