India’s only Formula One star Narain Karthikeyan today said that his talks with the Spyker team are still on. “I am okay with the Williams testing job, but my talks are on with other teams, including Spyker,” he told The Indian Express. Asked if he’s recently had any talks with new owner Vijay Mallya, Narain said “yes, but nothing worth talking about.”
When Spyker had a vacancy, earlier in the year, there was talk about Narain getting the job, but it did not work out, specifically because Narain’s unwillingness to rejoin a team he had had major differences with. The scenario changed with the acquisition of the team by Indian liquor baron Mallya. And the interest has resurfaced.
Meanwhile, he has committed to the A1 Grand Prix, doing races during the Formula One off-season. “I want to be in races,” he said.
