Tata BP Solar,a joint venture between Tata Power and BP on Friday said it will complete the 5 MW solar EPC project for Kolkata-based Electrical Manufacturing Company at Naini,Uttar Pradesh,by December 2011. Tata BP Solar also has a contract to provide the Operation and Maintenance (O&M) services to the plant for the first 10 years after commissioning, the company said in a statement. The plant is designed to run for 25 years and the crystalline silicon modules manufactured and supplied by Tata BP are expected to perform for this period of 25 years with minimal degradation in the power output,it said. The project will use 24,530 crystalline silicon modules spread out over an area of 25 acres. These modules will generate electric current when solar radiation falls on them. The direct current electricity will be converted to alternating current through inverters and will be upgraded to 33 KV via transformers,so that it can be fed into the electricity grid lines of Discoms under Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation.
