Tata Motors recently launched a health scheme for employers working under its contractors, which the company claimed is the second such project after the initiative from the Delhi Metro Railway Corporation.
The scheme, which was inaugurated by senior vice president Shrikrishna Ambardekar, will be implemented in all the plants of the company across the country, said press release.
Around 5,000 workers of different contractors will get the benefit of this scheme. Medical tests worth Rs 500 will be done for Rs 75. After the tests, only those workers who are medically fit will be allowed to work in the company. Every worker will be given a health card for a period of two years, the release said. As a token, Amabardekar handed over health cards to five workers.
Assistance for this scheme is being sought from Lokmanya Hospital, Niramay Hospital, Dhanashri Hospital, Dr Girigosawi Hospital and Dr Chavan Hospital. The medical check-up of all workers will be completed by November 7, the release added.
Ambardekar said contractors must take care of their workers. “Every worker in the company must be fit. This health check-up scheme will ensure the fitness of the workers working for contractors, which will increase the productivity, accuracy, interest in work and commitment to work,” he said.
