Tata Motors sales rise 5% in October

The company had sold 64,756 units in the same month of last year.

Tata Motors today reported 5.02 per cent increase in its total sales during October 2011 at 68,009 units.

The company had sold 64,756 units in the same month of last year,the company said in a statement.

The homegrown firm’s total passenger vehicles sales in the domestic market stood at 25,124 units in October,up 2.64 per cent from 24,478 units in the same month last year.

The company’s small car Nano sales stood at 3,868 units during the month,up 26 per cent,it added.

The ‘Indica’ range reported sales of 10,812 units,up 11 per cent vis-a-vis October,2010,Tata Motors said.

In addition,the ‘Indigo’ family recorded sales of 6,268 units,down 24 per cent in comparison to the same month last year. Sales of ‘Sumo’,’Safari’ and ‘Aria’ grew by 23 per cent to 4,176 units.

In the commercial vehicles segment,the company sold 38,714 units in the domestic market during the month under review compared to 34,328 units in the period last year,translating into an increase of 12.78 per cent.

Light commercial vehicle sales during the month amounted to 21,892 units,a growth of 6 per cent over last year,while medium and heavy commercial vehicle sales stood at 16,822 units,a growth of 23 per cent compared to October,2010.

The company’s exports fell by 29.90 per cent to 4,171 units last month from 5,950 units in the same month last year,it added.
