Qayamuddin Sarfiddin Kapadiya, who is suspected to have been one of the main conspirators of the recent Delhi serial blasts, is also wanted by the Ahmedabad City Detection of Crime Branch (DCB) in connection with the serial blasts that rocked the city on July 26.
According to DCB officials, Qayamuddin lived with his family at Bagechistiya Vadi in Vadodara city till he went missing. His whereabouts are not known since the Madhya Pradesh police came to Vadodara looking for him after the arrest of SIMI leader Safdar Nagori in March this year. Investigating officers in the Ahmedabad blasts case, who have quizzed his family, say they claim to have no idea of where he is.
Before Qayamuddin went missing, he was in the business of making rubber stamps. He was once arrested by the Vadodara police on the charge of causing grievous injury to a person with a knife. His brother runs a tyre shop in the walled city area of Vadodara.
According to DCB officials, Qayamuddin is a close aide of Abdul Subhan alias Tauqeer, the mastermind of the July 26 Ahmedabad attack who is also believed to be a conspirator in the Mumbai train blasts. Police suspect he may even have stayed along with Tauqeer at a rented house in the Vatva area of Ahmedabad for the planning of the July 26 blasts.
Qayamuddin is believed to have been given the responsibility of planting the bombs in Ahmedabad and Surat. He allegedly arranged for the bicycles and selected the youths who would place the bombs.
