Team Anna member Manish Sisodia fails to cast vote

Sisodia could not vote yesterday as he was in Goa for a programme.

After Arvind Kejriwal,Manish Sisodia emerged as the second Team Anna member who did not exercise his franchise in the UP Assembly elections from Shahibabad, where he is a registered voter.

Sisodia said he could not vote yesterday as he was in Goa for a programme which he said was fixed a month before.

“It is better that I was not in Sahibabad on the polling day otherwise I would have filled up the 49-0 form in the polling booth for disliking the candidates and political parties,” Sisodia said.

Rule 49-O is a rule in the Conduct of Elections Rules,1961[1,which governs elections in the country. It describes the procedure to be followed when a valid voter decides not to cast his vote, and decides to record this fact.

I did not like any nominee in the Sahibabad constituency as none of them was with a clean image,he said.

“There is no provision of right to reject, which is a must for an honest voter,” he said.

Defending Kejriwal for his statement on the Parliament,he asked when MPs take money for asking questions in the House or currency notes are shown to prove corruption of the government or porn films are seen in the Assembly, does sanctity of the Parliament remains intact then?

The next general election scheduled for 2014 will change the face of politics,he said.

Yesterday Kejriwal, another team Anna member, faced protests when he decided to leave for Goa without casting his vote in UP polls following which the “guilty” activist returned from airport but in an anti-climax could not exercise his franchise as his name was missing from electoral rolls.
