Team from Anna village in Delhi to meet Rahul

A three-member team from Ralegan Siddhi hopes to meet Rahul today.

A three-member team from Ralegan Siddhi, activist Anna Hazare’s village in Maharashtra, reached New Delhi on Monday afternoon, hoping to meet Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday morning.

Although Congress sources said a meeting with Rahul today was “very unlikely”,the Ralegan team said the office of Kerala MP P T Thomas had informed them the meeting was on. The team visited Thomas’s home at around 7 pm.

Ramdas Ugale, executive director of the Yadavbaba Education Trust and one of the three members of the team, told The Indian Express: “Thomas’s PA told us that he was on his way to Delhi from Kerala and would reach in an hour.”

“A meeting with Rahul Gandhi has been arranged for 9 in the morning. The venue will be conveyed to us. This is what Thomas’s secretary told us,” he said.

Ralegan Sarpanch Jaysinh Mapari and Anna’s personal secretary Suresh Pathare have accompanied Ugale to Delhi.

According to Ugale,Thomas’s secretary told them to submit a list of names and addresses of the people who were going to visit Rahul. They submitted a list of five names, adding two from Delhi.

They were told they had permission for three persons. But on their request, the list was accepted, said Sanjay Pathade,a teacher who was in constant touch with Sarpanch Mapari over phone from Ralegan Siddhi.
