Teenage girl held for theft

  • The city police have recovered valuables worth Rs 2 lakh from a teenage girl that she had allegedly stolen from a bungalow in Wadgaonsheri on June 29r.

    Police have identified the girl as Vrushali Shahaji Pavne (19), a resident of Kranti Nagar in Wadgaonsheri. Thomas John (44) of Kharadkar Nagar in Wadgaonsheri had lodged a complaint at Yerwada police station.

    According to the complaint, some unknown person entered John’s bungalow and decamped with gold and diamond ornaments worth Rs 2.14 lakh. Police were informed by their sources that Vrushali was trying to sell some gold ornaments in Wadgaonsheri.

    A Yerawada police team arrested Vrushali on Monday. During sustained interrogation, she confessed to the crime. Police said that she entered John’s bungalow as a customer of his beauty parlour and committed the theft. Police then recovered the stolen valuables from her residence.

    Further investigation revealed that Vrushali was earlier arrested in a theft case in Beed district. The investigation team comprised senior inspector Prasad Hasabnis, inspector Sunil Deshmukh, assistant inspector Manoj Khandagale, havaldar Shivaji Shelke, Arun Gaud, naiks Sunil Kulkarni, Vishnu Gaikwad, Shashikant Kamble, Vasant Gaikwad.
