The Kurar police on Thursday detained a 16-year-old boy for attempting to sodomise a six-year-old at his residence in Malad East.
Police said the incident took place on Wednesday. The two knew each other as they stay in the same neighbourhood, Sanjay Nagar in Kurar village, police said.
The investigating officer said, "On Wednesday night, the accused lured the victim to his house with a chocolate, took him to the mezanine floor and pulled down his trousers. The victim raised an alarm when the accused tried to sodomise him."
"The victim managed to flee when the accused's grip on him loosened. He went to his house and told his parents about the incident. They registered a police complaint," the officer added.
Police said they sent the victim for a medical examination but no injuries were found. The accused has been sent to Dongri Children's Home.
