Tejas, Simanjeet crowned champions

  • Tejas Nagpal and Simranjeet Kaur won the titles in the open and girls' categories, respectively, in the Chandigarh State Under-13 Boys and Girls Chess Championship which concluded at St. Xavier's Senior Secondary School, Sector 44, on Sunday.

    In the Under-13 open category, Tejas Nagpal emerged as undisputed champion with five points. Tarini Goyal, with four points, got the second position. Rishab Jain ended the championship with four points, while Mayank Kaura, Anubhav Tuknayat, Amartya Bhattacharjee, Akash Bhardwaj, Anmol, Pranjal Kaura and Archit bagged three points each. In the under-13 girls' category, Simranjeet Kaur claimed the title with 3.5 points on the basis of tie-break with Arunima Goyal, who also had the same number of points. The winners and runners-up will represent Chandigarh at the Nationals to be held at New Delhi from December 10 to 19.
