  • David Coleman Headley, arrested by the FBI for plotting a major terror attack in India at the behest of the LeT, had visited the country, including Mumbai, several times, Home Secretary G K Pillai said on Sunday.

"We do know that Headley had visited India a number of times. That is being investigated," he told reporters here when asked about media reports which said that the US citizen had visited the country.

"He has been in Mumbai and some other places," the Home Secretary said to a question about the places Headley had visited in India.

49-year-old Headley was arrested last month at Chicago's O'Hare International Airport as he prepared to board a flight to Philadelphia, intending to travel to Pakistan. FBI also arrested Tahawwur Hussain Rana, 48, a Canadian citizen of Pakistani origin, in the case.

Rana was arrested for planning attacks on National Defence College in Delhi and some other installations in the country.

Stop being harsh on ourselves By: Ganesh S | 08-Nov-2009 Reply | Forward Everytime there is a news about a terrorist being caught in a foreign land there is an outpouring of what would have happened if he was in India. We Indians are becoming the biggest whiners and groaners in the world. While it is understandable we dont want to endorse the follies of our political parties who are the root of all that is good or bad about our country, what I fail to understand this continuous and sustained denigration of Indian security agencies by whom ? Indians themselves.I think given their salaries, welfare base, service conditions and limitations and constraints,Indian security agencies are doing a fantastic job.We should all,as Indians stand up and applaud them as well as FBI which has this time been completely transparent.By the way,how many of those criticising the " system" or everything else under the sun actually go out and vote ? Well that would be a moot question. On one point though there is no disagreement, our politicians of all hues and colours are worst !!!
Headley Coleman----By: romesh.sharma | 08-Nov-2009 Reply | Forward There is every possibility that Headley Coleman,Hussain Rana; and Major Hasan, who has massacred 13 young US soldiers and dozens seriously wounded, are only minor activists of much greater terrorist's Organization within USA and Canada.I am sure FBI and CIA will give every priority to scrutinize and find out the apicentre of these inhuman creatures.Yes its correct as said by Verghese that India must take to strickest measures to issue Visas to the people visiting India from all countries around the world. Moreover now is highest time that USAmerican confiscate Pakistani nukes and stop nurturing the wrong people. No aid any form but food and basic needs of poor and needy people.
USA did for our country, which we can't do on our own for us!By: Dr. Divyesh Raythatha | 08-Nov-2009 Reply | Forward It is a shame on our part that vigilance department of our country is inactive and in a dormant stage. USA can investigate loop holes in India and direct us of terrorist attacks to be taken place, whereas our government just go on claiming that we are competent enough to fight terrorism. When we imitate culture to constitution and customs from the West, paticulaly USA, why shouldn't we learn techniques of investigation where we can do our own job without depending on others and protect our country better? Political parties like BJP and Congress are busy in infight and rivalry and our leaders do not have time to making our nation stronger and protect ourselves.
Terror suspectBy: Raj Patel | 08-Nov-2009 Reply | Forward NO surprise. If FBI would not caught him, he may visited this time also and performed his HOLY DUTY successfully because we are BUSY WITH more important issues like 'VANDE MATRAM' stuff and others like people from ups and Bihar allowed to work in MP or not?? and central government and its machinery do not have time to safe guard the INDIANS. Gov. and it's ministry are waiting for incident to be happened and I bet their speech writer may have draft ready what to say and how to speak in front of media.
Good that he got arrested in US!By: Ram | 08-Nov-2009 Reply | Forward Good that he got arrested in US! By some miracle had this guy been arrested in India on any charge including Terrorism, he would've escaped by giving ten rupees bribe to MPs, MLAs or Police. At least he is in.
