  • The UT District Consumer and Redressal Forum has directed Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL India) to pay compensation of Rs 20,000 for causing mental harassment and agony, besides refunding a fee of Rs 49,950 to Sector-41 resident Sanjeev Kumar.

In his complaint, Kumar alleged that he was drawn to a newspaper advertisement by TESOL regarding “overseas job guarantee and a monthly income ranging between Rs 1 lakh to Rs 3 lakh” after getting a certificate from them. The complainant took admission in the TESOL Programme and also deposited Rs 50,000 as fee.

Kumar averred that he attended classes regularly and was awarded a certificate after successful completion of the course.

He, however, alleged that despite several rounds of the TESOL office in Sector 38, they failed to get him a job placement.
