Flaying the district police for not keeping its promise of arranging a meeting with Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal, the TET Unemployed Teachers Union, Punjab, have called a meeting in the city on Sunday.

District president Deep Raja said: "During our September 23 protest dharna, the Ludhiana police lathicharged us and then to stop the protests, had promised that they would help secure a meeting with Chief Minister Punjab Parkash Singh Badal within a couple of days. Advisor to CM Maheshinder Singh Grewal is said to have promised the same to the local police. However till date we have not heard anything from the police and hence we have been left with no other option but to launch our dharnas once again."

State committee member Prince Arora added: "The state government is playing with our future by deliberately delaying the recruitment process of 1,273 primary posts and 3,442 master grade posts. Apart from this, in 5,078 posts announced by the state government, officials have made changes in the number of posts against each subject which in turn has made many qualified teachers unfit for these posts.

This only shows that the government is not ready to give what is our right and hence we will have rethink our strategy."
