Tewari concerned over law and order in Punjab

Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Manish Tewari has expressed serious concern over the deteriorating law and order situation in Punjab.

While addressing a gathering at Singhpura village and Ayali Khurd in Ludhiana district after laying foundation stones for street drains and sewerage systems on Saturday, Tewari said that these works had to be executed by the state government. However, to immediately address the problems of the citizens of these villages, he was distributing cheques to the panchayats of these villages from his discretionary quota under MPLADS, he added.

He also laid foundation stones and distributed cheques for development in villages like Jhammat, Phagla, Guram, Khatra Chohram, Butahri, Gopalpur and Umedpur.

Tewari also unfurled the national flag near Clock Tower in Ludhiana on Saturday.

Paying rich tributes to the freedom fighters, Tewari said people from Punjab had made supreme sacrifices in winning freedom for the country and thereafter all Punjabis made a contribution not only to defending the frontiers of the country from external threats, but also to heralding an era of peace and prosperity in the country.

He hoped that in the coming decade while the country would touch new heights in economic growth and development, Punjab would also regain its status of being the number one state in the country.
