Thackeray poster smeared, RPI storms police station

Workers of the Republican Party of India (RPI) stormed Kandivali police station after a desecrated poster of Shiv Sena supremo Bal Thackeray was found near Kandivali Railway Station Saturday evening.

At around 4 pm, the workers noticed a damaged poster and demanded police action against unknown miscreants. "About 10 RPI workers came to the station and submitted a complaint without creating a ruckus. A black substance had been smeared on the poster. We haven't yet registered a case," said Harishchandra Pimple, senior inspector, Kandivali police station. He added that he may register a case under section 153 (Promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, race, place of birth, residence, language) of IPC against unknown individuals.
