The Brain Drain Theory

It was the innocent ignorance of actor Vinay Pathak's character,Bharat Bhushan,in Bheja Fry that had the others in the film literally tearing their hair out,and audiences in cinema halls having laughter convulsions.

Producer Mukul Deora and actor Minissha Lamba talk about taking the madness of the original Bheja Fry to the next level with Bheja Fry 2

It was the innocent ignorance of actor Vinay Pathak’s character,Bharat Bhushan,in Bheja Fry that had the others in the film literally tearing their hair out,and audiences in cinema halls having laughter convulsions. And Mukund Deora, producer of Bheja Fry 2,promises the same madness all over again with the sequel, but at a doubled-up pace. In the city on Saturday, for the promotion of the film along with actress Minissha Lamba,Deora described the movie as “intelligent cinema”. As a part of the promotions,Deora along with Lamba played games, gave out movie merchandise and interacted with the members of Endurance Fitness Club at City Pride,Kothrud. “I have been looking at making a movie for a while and I settled on the script of Bheja Fry 2 because it really appealed to me,” said Deora, adding,“The sequel is made on a higher scale, but the template is the same – a pompous, cunning guy versus a simple, humble guy.”

In the film,Bharat Bhushan, played riproariously by Pathak, goes on a cruise, which also happens to have a businessman called Ajit Talwar (KK Menon) on board. Menon tries various tricks to have him booted off the ship to avoid a possible income tax raid, but, much to his chagrin, the simple Bhushan manages to survive. “I make films that I would want to watch. I appreciate the fact that the taste and preferences of Indian audiences are evolving. You don’t always need a six-pack sporting, insanely gorgeous protagonist or a multi-crore budget to make a hit film. If you have an intelligent script,a talented cast and an efficient crew,it works out just fine. I am also working on a film based on the book,The White Tiger by Arvind Adiga, and I cant help but compare world cinema to Indian cinema. Though we are evolving,we still have a long way to go,” he says.

Lamba makes a cinematic comeback of sorts after her role in 2010’s Well Done Abba and her recent customs controversy. In Bheja Fry 2 ,she plays the role of an executive producer and is dressed to a T in slick corporate outfits. But it’s her take as Pathak’s dream girl that made the role special for Lamba. “It’s lovely to be anyone’s dream girl, especially an adorable and shy character like Bhushan’s,” she said.
