After a hat-trick of Fashion, Dostana and Kaminey, Priyanka Chopra is at the top of the Bollywood game
The last female star to be known by her initials was the million-dollar baby, MD or Madhuri Dixit. In Bollywood, initials are different from pet names (Sri, Bebo, Lolo, Kads or Kats). A recall value of your initials is a sure sign of an actor’s box-office clout. In the 1990s, it was MD and now it is PC, aka Priyanka Chopra.
With a hat-trick of Fashion, Dostana, Kaminey and a buffet of 12 roles in Ashutosh Gowariker’s What’s Your Rashee?, Priyanka is at the top of the Bollywood ladder. She’s also raking it big in media exposure with multiple brand endorsements in her kitty. Moreover, with 66,788 followers as compared to Mallika Sherawat’s 20,531, Sonam Kapoor’s 18,742 and Lara Dutta’s 7,949, Priyanka is regarded as Bollywood’s Twitter queen.

Her entourage, comprising a band of three girls who go by the Twitter handle ‘Team Priyanka’, takes me inside the set where Priyanka is shooting for a music video. Attired in her trademark draped mini—forest green is the colour— Priyanka is romancing the steadicam operated by ace choreographer Ahmed Khan. She twirls around mischievously with a clown and a Red Indian. Co-star Uday Chopra in his geeky get-up looks on. Sporting a chic short hairdo, she is a total contrast to the Gujju girl look in What’s Your Rashee?, a film that she still has to detox out of her system.
