Like Madhur Bhandarkar's previous films that were inspired by aspects of showbusiness, Heroine peers into the murky depths of Bollywood. It revolves around the life of a once-successful actress, Mahi Arora's (Kareena Kapoor) career, which is on the decline. Mahi, who is at the pinnacle of her career, is
insecure. In contrast to what she shows the world, she suffers from loneliness. Her only source of happiness is her passionate love for a reigning superstar who is non-committal. Her career takes a downward spiral and her contemporaries race ahead. There comes a point when she is forced to risk everything and face the ultimate gut-wrenching question as to whether she will be able to rescue herself from self-destruction.
the buzz
The buzz is that the film is said to be inspired from the lives of many actresses, including Marilyn Monroe, Madhuri Dixit-Nene and Manisha Koirala.
