  • Ban ki moon

Hello and welcome to Walk The Talk. I’m Shekhar Gupta and my guest this week, is a “Dilliwala” who’s come back after almost 4 decades . UN Secretary General Ban Ki moon, “Dilli mein apka swagat hai”, welcome to Delhi.

“Bilkul theek hai. aap toh dilli mein vaapas aaye. Most people don’t know that you were here and you actually learnt Hindi.

It was 36 years ago at Delhi , I registered at the Max Mueller Bhavan and I studied some Hindi. At that time I used to be a very good Hindi student, I’ve forgotten it all.

You can still speak a few lines.

Mera naam Ban Ki moon hai, aapka naam kya hai?

Mera naam toh Shekhar Gupta hai, aap jaante hain.

    Aap theek hain?

Mein theek hoon aur aap theek hain? Dilli main aake kaisa laga after 4 decades? What seems different here?

There has been dramatic change. The streets ..so many cars..

    Many of them Korean actually.

Many more Koreans are living and working in India. I’m very glad that all the spectrums of our life between Korea and India have changed in such a dramatic way. It’s a very good sign . I know that business cooperation is thriving .

And the Korean businesses have really beaten the Japanese in India.

Korean businesses have been doing well but I’m here to talk about the United Nations. (laughs)

    ... contd.
