  • The museum authorities had displayed various memorials and other remarkable objects really well and deserve appreciation as they are instrumental in preserving these memorials.

We saw missiles, helicopters, airplanes, spaceship, paintings, portraits, mementoes among others. The first things that caught my attention were the aircrafts, and the laser-guided missiles.

There was an IAF Platinum Jubilee Capsule which is to be opened on the IAF’s centenary on October 8, 2032. There was a model of an aircraft which was presented to the Indian Air Force during the Indo-Pak conflict. There were also many flighter bombers. I could also see the well-known first ground attack fighter Sukhoi: SO-7,USSR which was a frontline aircraft during the Indo-Pak conflict of 1971.

My favourite was Gallery-III, which displayed operational air defence equipment, missiles, armaments, models of aircrafts for future generations to view and get inspired from their past. A part of the gallery is dedicated to the First Indian Chief Air Marshal Subroto Mukherjee.

Among places to be visited in Delhi, the Air Force Museum is a wonderful spot not only for increasing our general knowledge but also making people aware about the importance of the Air Force in the Indian Army.

As we entered the gates, there was a beautiful garden with a shrine named “Yudh Smriti”. Going straight, there was a missile named 1EO59 that originated in Russia. In Gallery I, many beautiful models, a globe with the Indian Flag and a golden capsule were kept. Awards which had been given to our brave Indian soldiers were kept in a transparent box. It consisted of photographs of World War II. Pictures of soldiers and leaders adorned the walls of the museum. The weapons on the board made history more lively. There was a bundle of guns and swords namely Vicker, MK-1 and many more. Walking past the last room, we could find uniforms used by the soldiers.

    ... contd.
