Punjab already on quite a high with highest per capita consumption of liquor in the country will have a new entry soon of The Pint Room that pegs itself as a beer café. The Pint Room today opened its first outlet this side at Panchkula and announced its plans to make a spirited entry into Punjab by opening five outlets in next six months.
Pradeep Gidwani, formerly managing director of the Carlsberg group in India and brain behind The Pint Room concept in the country said that its like a Café except that instead of coffee, its beer that is served here. Gidwani said that The Pint Rooms had already been opened at Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore and now at Panchkula and response had been tremendous. He said that it is in line with government's policy of promoting low alcoholic drinks.
He informed that "Punjab has great potential as as such we have planned to open five outlets in prominent cities of the state at Ludhiana, Patiala, Jalandhar, Amritsar and Mohali". All these woul be company owned, he clarified. In addition, Gurgaon and Pune would have one outlet each soon while Mumbai would have the second The Pint Room in next few months.
He said that The Pint Room is brightly lit bear café as against dingy and dimly lit bars. He said that target people were from age 25 to 75, professionals and others who want to relax. There will be 20 brands to choose from initially in Panchkula and it would be raised to 40 brands as in other cities. The Pint Room will offer veg and non-veg snacks. The beer brands include Trappist, Ales brewed in Belgian monasteries, Japanese dry beer, German wheat beers, Belgium Witbier, Stouts, European Lagers etc.
