Power cuts are nothing new in Delhi. But last week these power cuts happened at the most unusual of places. First, the Lok Sabha was plunged in darkness for a few minutes, giving the Speaker the opportunity to joke that he had turned off the lights out of shame at the behaviour of some members. A couple of days later, power played truant again, this time while the visiting Iranian Vice-President was making his speech at a function in the National Museum. The situation lasted less than a minute and the visiting dignitary was able to resume his speech. As if that was not embarrassing enough, sometime later the mike went off, this time presumably because of a technical glitch.
