After making it to the ZCA camp, Chandigarh lads Anil Sihag and Gurinder Singh have been selected in the ZCA U-19 North Zone team
Looking at Chandigarh batsman Anil Sihag's small build, it's hard to imagine that his willow has the ability to tear apart the bowlers. Better known as 'pocket dynamite' in the Chandigarh cricket circle, Sihag has been impressive with his form for the last couple of years.
Having being attended, the National Cricket Academy (NCA) last year in Bangalore, this right-hand middle-order batsman has been the back bone of Chandigarh U-19 team scoring runs heavily. After performing exceedingly well for Punjab in the last year's U-19 Cooch Bihar Trophy, where they finished runners-up, 17-year-old Sihag along with Chandigarh all-rounder Gurinder Singh have been selected ZCA U-19 North Zone team. Gurinder who bats down the order is also regular wicket-taker for Punjab and Chandigarh rolling his left-arm.
Though, the call-up has not come as a surprise for both of them. Sihag said, "I have been in good nick over the last one year. The camp at the NCA really helped improve the level of my game. Dav Whatmore's presence at the NCA camp along with Mahela Jayawardene and Kumar Sangakkara's presence was a great morale booster. Then, the Cooch Bihar Trophy exposure was amazingly brilliant. Having being among the runs, raised my confidence level." Punjab lost to Mumbai in the final of U-19 Cooch Bihar Trophy held at Vishakhapatnam. Anil emerged as prolific scorer for Chandigarh in last year's inter-district matches with average going over 60 last season.
