Thanks to the multiplex-Bollywood impasse,Kolkata will get to see the best Hollywood saw in recent times
The big Khans of Bollywood may cry themselves hoarse over the mutltiplex issue, but for discerning viewers of world cinema the tussle between producers and multiplex owners has proved to be a blessing in disguise. Thanks to the Bollywood dry spell,Kolkata will finally get to see Oscar-nominated biggies like The Revolutionary Road and The Reader in the coming weeks. We have quite an exhaustive line up of Hollywood films for the next few weeks. Apart from The Revolutionary Road and The Reader we will also screen the much acclaimed Sean Penn- starrer,Milk. And then of course there are other English films like Bed Time Stories,Confessions of a Shopaholic,X- Men Origins: Wolverines,One Man Army,Meet Bill,Underworld-3, says Captain Virendra Marya-Regional Director (East),INOX Leisure Ltd. The Fame chain of multiplexes too has a similar line-up. We have received a lot of enquiries about these Oscar-nominated films and we are glad to bring it to the cinema-loving people of Kolkata.
Considering the fact that these Oscar winners have made rounds of other cities months ago and were not really in the radar of Kolkata multiplexes, one can only thank the fracas for this unexpected turn of events.
Connoisseurs of world cinema can also celebrate the fact that Inox will showcase some of the most critically acclaimed and award-winning films in recent times like Im Not There,Honeydripper,Razzle Dazzle,The Edge of Heaven,Far North and Goodbye Bafan. And of course there are other things to look forward to. The much-hyped screenings of the IPL matches being one. Talks are on to screen IPL matches as and when the issues regarding the multiplex rights are sorted out, informs Marya.
