  • City’s RJ Satya is raising social awareness once again but in a style that’s uber cool!

It's bumper-to-bumper traffic and as we wind our way to work, oblivious to what song is playing on the radio, a certain programming twist on-air gets all our attention. In between the latest chart-buster songs, you hear him rap out aloud. As the world celebrates the global coming of rap, closer home RJ Satya is doing his version that’s not just desi but uber cool too! The sudden downpour in the city to an NGO scam that left schools without fans to the recent debate over the Hindi language, the radio jockey with BIG 92.7 FM has been churning out funky scripts that weave in the hot social topic for the day put together in a unique rapper style. “It’s a format that came easy to me. I like playing around with music styles and nobody likes gyan that sounds typical and boring,” explains the radio jockey who has titled his take as ‘Satya Gyan’. “It’s truth and nothing but the truth,” he quips as we catch him in the studio replaying the latest ones he’s recorded.

Interestingly, the success of his recent ‘Paani Bachao’ campaign that saw him stay on-air for days at a stretch, has put RJ Satya on the ‘raise social awareness’ track! “It’s creative work but at the same time it’s value added entertainment. I like the fact that I can make a social comment without sounding too boring or staid,” says the RJ. The feedback for ‘Satya Gyan’ has been good and that’s egging him on to continue the rapper take. “It’s a lot of team work that goes into making anything on air sound fun and interesting. For the script I work with my producer as well as the team,” explains Satya, who gets up each morning and scans newspapers and news channels for stories that can be taken further. “I am always on the lookout for issues that can be showcased and they could be both city-specific or national,” says Satya whose voice suits the style to the T. “I am also enjoying exploring the medium,” he signs off saying. Here’s to more Satya gyan!
