The Story of Love

Marathi film Premachi Goshta, set to hit screens on February 1, traces the journey of love and hope through conversations between strangers

Two strangers—both carrying their own baggage of love, life and experiences—meet. They get talking about relationships and what unfolds is the story of Satish Rajwade\'s latest Marathi film, Premachi Goshta.

"Love is simple, straight and easy. But we have the uncanny knack of making it complicated. In this film, I\'ve tried to portray love in its truest sense," says Rajwade, the film\'s director, who was in the city recently to launch the first look and lyrics of the film. Starring Atul Kulkarni and Sagarika Ghatge—of Chak De India fame—in the lead roles, Premachi Goshta also has veteran Marathi actor Rohini Hattangady essaying a role. The movie will be Ghatge\'s debut in Marathi films.

After the success of his Mumbai-Pune-Mumbai, Rajwade says he is looking forward to showcasing the on-screen chemistry between the protagonists. "This is the first time Atul is doing a romantic role. He is a brilliant actor and like all of his other projects he has done a fantastic job of slipping into the shoes of a sensitive and romantic young man," says Rajwade. Kulkarni has been missing in action from Marathi films since his critically acclaimed Natarang, released in 2010.

Talking about Ghatge\'s debut in Marathi films, Rajwade says, "She is an extremely talented actor. She had some trouble with speaking Marathi and we were exploring the option of using a dubbing artist but Sagarika wanted to do it herself. She spent hours studying the language and has done a wonderful job of it."

The film also stars Sulekha Talwalkar, Meera Velankar, Ajay Purkar and Rajwade. Suhas Gujarathi is the director of photography while the music score is by Avinash-Vishwajeet. Screenplay and dialogue are by Chinmay Kelkar and singers Swapnil Bandodkar, Bela Shende, Rushikesh Ranade, Ashish Sharma and Kailash Kher have lent their voices to lyrics by Ashwini Shende and Vishwajeet Joshi.
