    Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa

MR: And particularly Tamils. Not only Tamils, and the whole India.

    SG: Right.

MR: In Tamil Nadu, that was the biggest mistake. I mean, in Tamil Nadu they killed him. A man who gave his jacket, this is what I heard, don’t know whether it is correct, gave his personal bullet-proof jacket to this man.

    SG: To Prabhakaran

MR: To Prabhakaran, and he try to bring a solution by introducing thirteenth Amendment to our constitution.

    SG: Which you now honour.

    MR: We have one.

SG: Because you…you were once not happy with it.

MR: Certainly, we were not happy when IPKF came to Sri Lanka.

    SG: Right..Right.

MR: I was also not happy.

    SG: But times change.

MR: I was in the Opposition.

SG: Yes. Yes. In the Opposition you are never happy.

MR: No, I’ll not…but they were the Government, just I will…

SG: You had to oppose it.

    MR: Yes.

SG: I call it Oppositionism. It is a strong ideology.

MR: So that was a, at that time, we were opposing. But now we can see, if they, if we allowed the IPKF to stay for another one or two months, they would have finished this.

    ... contd.

THE WAR IS OVERBy: DILBAG RAI | 10-Jun-2009 Reply | Forward Speaking at his Presidential palace to The Indian Express Editor-in-Chief Shekhar Gupta on NDTV’s Walk the Talk broadcast Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa has said that slain LTTE chief Velupillai Prabhakaran’s “biggest mistake” was to assassinate former Indian Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi as that permanently robbed his movement of Indian sympathy which is endorsed by every Indian. But in the euphoria over the recent military victory that ended the conventional war against the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (Tamil Tigers) and wiped out most of their leadership, it should not be forgotten by the Sri Lanka Government that diaspora Tamils are in shock for most of them saw the founder and leader of the Tigers, V Prabhakaran, as an invincible defender of the Tamil cause. They can scarcely believe that he and almost all the other senior leaders of the Tigers are dead. There are enough young radicals ready to continue the war in Sri Lanka, if only by guerrilla and terrorist attac
Talk the Talk firstBy: SHEkar | 07-Jun-2009 Reply | Forward Shekar: When are you going to stop being the Goebbels of your Hitler (Rajapakse)? It was very obvious that you were deriving vicarious pleasure of killing Tamils in SL in your interview. What is your problem with Tamils? Ignorance is not bliss, I can volunteer to educate you about Tamil history in SL. I am not a supporter of LTTE or any goons, but have you for a moment thought about this Genocide? What will you do if your mother/sisters/wife/daughters were raped infront of your eyes to subjugate you? OR torture your dad/brothers/you by passing a broom in your rectum/drill holes in your bottom just for your captors pleasure? Till today, not even one person was charged for 1983 July Massacre, now Rajapakse says only
Choppy interviewBy: Giri | 01-Jun-2009 Reply | Forward I'm susprised this is an interview by SG. It's extremely choppy - broken sentences, misspellings and wrong names - Miliband has been mispelt. My message might appear nitpicking but it is not. My concern is that whoever has typed this interview has verbatim typed the interview with all the mistakes and added a few more. It is difficult for the reader to understand the thoughts of MR and understand his message. A conversation cannot be typed straight away into an interview. You may have to filter those errors and present the readers with the thoughts, words, messages and opinions of the interviewee. Let us hope that Mahinda Rajapakse lives up to his words. If he doesn't or if the Sinhala political leadership doesn't show the maturity, they will reap what they sow.
the war is over. .By: Kaushik | 01-Jun-2009 Reply | Forward President Rajapakse has said all the right things and sounds reasonably sincere. Let us hope this translates into positive initiatives for all Sri Lankans, particularly the long suffering Tamils.
NDTV - Breaking NewsBy: Hanif | 01-Jun-2009 Reply | Forward It was nice to see this interview on NDTV, but was disappointed with the NEWS highlighting only the below points which sounded negative;- India knew that SL was fighting India's war- The was no pressure from Indian GovernmentGood to see a better headline
