Shah Rukh Khan recently paid a visit to Ajmer Sharif dargah and offered prayers on his mother’s 20th death anniversary on April 15. The actor placed a chaddar on the shrine to pay respect to his late mother. Accompanied by his sister,SRK also prayed for the happiness of his family,close friends and their family.

Way to his heart

Aamir Khan was fed with a huge dabba of home-cooked food by a Gujarati family. He was shooting at Khetwadi,one of Mumbai’s crowded areas. Though on a restricted diet,the actor let go and gorged on the mouth-watering Gujarati cuisine and heaped praises on the lady of the house. Later,he even carried the tiffin home for wife Kiran and his mother,with a promise to send the dabba back with his driver,the next day.

Extortion calls

Veteran director Yash Chopra has received extortion calls allegedly from gangster Ravi Pujari asking him to cough up huge amount as protection money. According to police,a person claiming to be Ravi Pujari had called up the landline number of the office of Yash Raj Films in Mumbai and demanded money from Chopra. The caller threatened that if the protection money was not paid the filmmaker would face “dire consequences”. The filmmaker had written a letter to the city police informing them about the threat calls following which he had been provided adequate security.

Honoured

Pooja Batra was honoured by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Indo-American Advisory Council on April 28 for her contribution to the South Asian American Community based there. The actress,who has been actively involved with the community for several years,also hosted an auction to raise funds for Japan’s Tsunami victims at the star-studded gala.

Appeal admitted

Shiney Ahuja,who was sentenced to seven years’ rigorous imprisonment for raping his domestic maid,has approached the Bombay High Court challenging his conviction. The actor’s appeal was admitted recently in which he has stated that the lower court has erred in law while convicting him and that he has been falsely implicated in the case.
