"I read in the newspapers somewhere recently that a boy in Mumbai scored 400-odd runs. The papers said he's going to be the next Sachin. How can anyone say that?" an incredulous Sri Lankan spin wizard Muttiah Muralitharan asks as the Indian master batsman completed 20 years of international cricket today.

"There will never be another Sachin," Muralitharan says, paying tribute to the champion batsman with whom he has played against a lot of times during their long international career. The world's highest wicket-taker said you get to see one Tendulkar in a life time.

"In the next hundred years you will not witness another Tendulkar. He is once in a century player," he said.

"He can make runs even when he is 44 years old because his technique is so good. It is this combination of technique and temperament that has made Tendulkar such a great cricketer," said Muralitharan, who has a record of 783 scalps in Test and 512 in ODIs.

Muralitharan said he doesn't have anything new to say about the master-blaster and for him it has been a privilege just to play against him.

"What can I say that has never been said about him before? It's a privilege for those who have played during his (Sachin's) time and so got associated with him. Personally, for me, bowling to him has been a privilege," Muralitharan said.

The Sri Lankan vice captain described Tendulkar and former West Indies skipper Brain Lara as legends of the game but considered the little master as the special one.

nice little champion godBy: manoj | 09-Jan-2010 Reply | Forward I could never find a person in this country to show my children as their role model. No politicians, no movie stars or anybody who can come close to him as a person, as a crickter, as a family man and half the patriot as he is.when he bats a billion people switch of their lives and turn on their tv sets.

Lets only admire sachinBy: chetan | 16-Nov-2009 Reply | Forward Sachin Tendulkar is a great inspiration for many fans..No common person has a right to comment on his negative performances..every player goes through this and is a part of the game.Lets only admire him and learn the right approach towards the life as he(sachin) has always done.I hope every single fan would like to appreciate his Wins rather than comenting on his failures.A great player can never lose anything.HE IS GOD.
There will never be any Sachin - Murali By: Prasad | 15-Nov-2009 Reply | Forward He scored 42 centuries while scoring only 16 of them match-winning. Shockingly one century came out of his bat while chasing in second innings. People who understands little cricket knows very well what does it mean by chasing the runs. Pointing and Inzamam have 68% and 60% of winning centuries. Inzamam scored 18 winning centuries, 6 of them in second innings out 25. Pointing's record is more promising. He scored 68% of his match-winning innings in his captaincy only. That is a double acheivement. Our great Tendulker's average is only 30%. Google it. This is not a rocket science. Muralitharan for example has won many matches for his team. How do you define a cricketer. With discipline only? Non-sense. As if India has 100 thousand (world record) missiles produced by Kalam, but at the time of war, those missiles cannont fire. The greatness of the batsmen should be measured to bring glory to the country under pressure.
