Think 10 times before you raid us,Kayani warns US

Kayani reacted to a lawmaker’s question on whether the US might strike Pakistan,like it did in Cambodia and Laos before withdrawing from Vietnam.

Pakistan is a nuclear power — unlike Afghanistan or Iraq — and the US would have to think “10 times” before it begins unilateral action in North Waziristan,Pak army chief Gen Ashfaq Parvez Kayani has told parliament,media reports said Wednesday.

Late Wednesday evening,US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton landed unannounced in Kabul. President Hamid Karzai has expressed frustration with Pakistan’s refusal to cooperate in tackling the terrorist Haqqani network that has repeatedly struck Afghanistan.

“They (the US) might do it (strike at militants) but they will have to think ten times because Pakistan is not Iraq or Afghanistan,” the The Express Tribune quoted Kayani as having told parliament’s defence committee at a briefing at general headquarters yesterday.

Dawn reported that Kayani didn’t say how Pakistan would respond,but reminded lawmakers that they were a “nuclear power” — not comparable to Iraq or Afghanistan.
