  • A CPI(MAOIST) leader has admitted his involvement in the Ladup landmine blast case. “He was involved in many cases of Naxalite violence in this state,” “DIG R K Mallick told The Indian Express today.

The blast, which occurred near Ladup village in Latehar district on April 16 had killed six BSF constables and injured 12 more personnel.

Bhushan was one of the three Maoists whose release was demanded by the CPI(Maoist) South Chotanagpur Division’s spokesperson Samarji in exchange of the abducted Inspector of Jharkhand’s Special Branch Francis Induwar. The other two were Kobad Ghandy and Chhatradhar Mahato.

After Induwar was beheaded on Tuesday, Bhushan, who was arrested by the West Bengal Police near Kolkata on October 3, was brought to Gumla on transit remand on Thursday.

Yadav alias Bhushanji told the police that he was a matriculate who had joined the erstwhile People’s War Group’s youth wing. Subsequently, he joined the PWG. “After the PWG got merged with the CPI(Maoist) he was promoted as sub zonal commander who was active in Latehar, Lohardaga and Gumla areas,” said a senior police officer who interrogated him this morning.
