Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday had a surprise suggestion of empowering villagers to fight terrorism.

"I am confident that this country can take on terrorism. Defeating it is no problem. If we empower those people in villages, we can sit back, relax and we will destroy terrorism in 15 minutes," Gandhi told a press conference here.

Rahuls fixes 15 minutes to defeat terrorismBy: Ramkesav | 06-May-2009 Reply | Forward Rahul has made a stiff competition to Vadivelu, a leading comedian in Tamil cinema. May be he needs rest. This election campaign and his hectic schedule in mid summer has cost him dearly. Either he is a fool or he thinks we are all fools. Even after 30 months of court order, Afsal Guru's sentence is delayed by his party and even after so many years, Dawood is not brought into india. Empowerment of poor, he says can be done in 15 minutes. It isvery simple. By one governmental order, he can remove the word "poor" from all official statues and records. It is as simple as that. He proves again that he is only an upstart in politics. Except being son of Rajiv, he has no other credentials whatsoever. He lacks general knoledge, common sense and decency in public relationship. But for the protege he gets from his mother, he is nothing.
Not 15 minutes... he means 15 yearsBy: Deepak Yadav | 06-May-2009 Reply | Forward My dear reader’s Rahul Gandhi by mistake said 15 minutes; actually he was saying he'll defeat terrorism in 15 years of his rule. Now please forgive him as he is weak in hindi
What does he mean by "empower"...?By: Jay S | 06-May-2009 Reply | Forward I sometimes wonder if the politicians even understand what they say. Just throwing words like "empower" and drawing simplistic conclusions makes me think that the political class will forever remain the same. The new generation is no different to the old one. All of them playing to the galleries and not one of them really want a solution.
