Congress councillors and party workers who had left the party because of differences during the Delhi Assembly elections are set to make a comeback. They are former mayor Satbir Singh from Mehrauli, Hem Chand Goel from Badarpur and Rajni Nagar from Molarband.
Satbir Singh had left after the party refused to give him a ticket to contest from the Mehrauli Assembly seat. Satbir contested the election as an independent candidate.
Goel and Nagar had resigned after the party gave the ticket to Ramvir Singh Bidhuri. Both the councillors had then supported BSP candidate Ram Singh Netaji, who won.
“We are ultimately a part of the Congress. We want to join the party again and the party also wants us back. We are going back to our roots,” said Goel, who comes back to the Congress fold on Friday.
Satbir, who will join the party at a later date, said: “I have had a word with the Congress. But I am talking to the village panchayats in my area. I will join in the next phase.”
