Three persons were killed and a fourth injured in three separate accidents in the city on Saturday morning.
According to police,the first accident took place in South Delhi at 6.15 am on Saturday. A 21-year-old man lost his life after his motorcycle was hit by a speeding DTC bus.
The victim,identified as Vijay Choudhary,used to work with a five-star hotel and was returning to his home in Sriniwaspuri after work when the accident took place near the Moolchand underpass.
Choudharys motorcycle was hit by a low-floor DTC bus on route number 402,which plies between Minto Road and Badarpur. Due to the impact,Choudhary fell off the motorcycle and suffered severe head injuries, a senior police officer said.
Passersby rushed Choudhary to a hospital where doctors declared him dead.
The bus driver has been identified as Rakesh. He has been arrested and a case of causing death due to rash and negligent driving has been registered.
Choudhary had completed his hotel management course from a private institute and had recently joined the five-star hotel,police said.
In another accident,which took place early on Saturday morning,a 26-year-old home guard volunteer lost his life while his colleague was critically injured when the motorcycle they were riding was hit by a vehicle in West Delhis Multan Nagar area.
The victim,identified as Sultanpuri resident Vinay Kumar,died on the spot.
Kumars friend,Mahender (27),suffered severe injuries. The victims were posted in Central Delhis Kamla Market area and were returning home after duty when the accident took place.
We suspect that their motorcycle skid on the road after being hit by a vehicle. A case has been registered at the Paschim Vihar police station, a police officer said.
The third road mishap was reported from East Delhis Mayur Vihar area where a truck driver died. Police said the speeding truck overturned on the road early on Saturday morning.
