In a major set back to Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) and Hizb-ul-Mujahideen (HM) terrorist outfits,state police eliminated three terrorists including a Pakistani national on Thursday,when terrorists of both LeT and HM were meeting at forest areas of Manrella in mountainous district of Doda.
However,police have recovered and identified the body of Pakistani national Akram Mahaji along with a sniper riffle,but the bodies of other two slain militants are yet to be identified. Gun battle between police and militants is still on.
Terming it as success for the state police,Deputy Inspector General of Police,Doda-Ramban range,Hemant Kumar Lohia,said,A police party from Doda along with Special Operation Group (SOG) of police was on job for last two days on information that LeT and HM militants are arranging a joint meeting and a Pakistani national Akram,who is also becomes Joint Operational Commander of both terror outfits would lead the meeting.
Finally,we traced the terrorists and laid a cordon around the forest area of Manrella forests in Jwalidhar near Bhaderwah in district Doda and challenged them,but the militants fired upon police and resulted into a fierce gun battle, said Lohia and added,But police party killed three of them including their commander.
The DIG however said that the number of the militants participated in the meeting is not confirmed but the encounter and search operation around the area is on to trace and eliminate them.
Sources said that the spot is closed to the Himachal Pradesh border and militants arranged the meeting in the peaceful and lonely places far from the police and army,but Lohia said that HP border is not closed to the spot.
