Three Maoists taken to Sonbhadra,Uttarakhand for investigation

Three of the eight Maoists arrested by the UP Special Task Force on February 8 were reportedly taken to Sonbhadra and Uttarakhand for investigation.

Three of the eight Maoists arrested by the UP Special Task Force on February 8 were reportedly taken to Sonbhadra and Uttarakhand for investigation.

While a Kanpur police team led by Govind Nagar Circle Officer (CO) Prashant Kumar took Balraj to Sonbhadra,another team led by Babupurwa CO Samir Saurabh took Maoists Rajendra Kumar Phulara and Kripa Shanker to the Almora district of Uttarakhand.

The DGP office confirmed that the Govind Nagar CO had taken Balraj to Allahabad on Friday where the accused reportedly took the policemen to the Govindpuri residence of alleged Maoists Vishwa Vijay and wife Seema Azad.

Balraj is said to have told police that Seema’s house had hosted him and other Maoist activists in several meetings.

Babupurwa CO Samir Saurabh,meanwhile,told The Indian Express that he took Shanker to a house in Makkaganj locality in Hasanganj area of Lucknow on Friday based on the information provided by him during the interrogation. The police have recovered two books on Maoist activities and pamphlets containing provocative statements against the government,the Babupurwa CO said.

The CO added that they brought Phulara and Shanker to Uttarakhand on Saturday to help obtain leads on information provided by them.
