  • Three members of a family committed suicide at Keshod in Junagadh district on Wednesday night, allegedly because of a financial crisis.

The deceased have been identified as Govindbhai Divecha (57), his wife Ranjanben (52) and son Vijay (28), all residents of Meghna society in Keshod. In a suicide note, recovered from the spot, the family stated that they consumed poison due to financial crisis, the Keshod police said.

The police learnt about the incident on Thursday morning and rushed to the spot.

They took the bodies in their custody and sent them to the local government hospital for postmortem. The postmortem report confirmed death due to consumption of poison.

Police Inspector B G Karawadara said: “The suicide note mentioned that the family was unable to pay back loans taken from banks, as a result of which they took the extreme step.”
