  • The district courts on Saturday sent the two robbers arrested recently from Sector 42, to three days’ police remand.

Seeking a 10-day remand for Jaipal and Harinder, the public prosecutor said the cops need more time to interrogate the duo for the alleged role in the robbery at local businessman Lalit Behl’s residence on May 27.

“They took away cash, gold jewellery and electronic items from his residence. Only a few of the stolen goods were recovered from the possession of the other members arrested by Haryana Police last month,” argued the public prosecutor.

In response, the defence counsel pleaded that the police had already taken custody of the accused under the Arms Act.

“They have nothing to state before the police,” said the defence.

After listening to both the parties, the judge handed over the accused to the Crime Branch for interrogation.

Sources with the police, meanwhile, said three days after committing the Sector-33 heist, the robbers contacted Amritsar-based Tejinder Singh to dispose of the stolen goods.

“Tejinder asked them to come near Aanam Cinema. The robbers sold the booty to him for Rs 1.5 lakh,” said a police officer, adding that they are on the lookout for Tejinder.
