CIIE saw roughly 70 entrepreneurs, government officials, venture capitalists and enthusiasts come together to listen to talks on “getting to understand the state of clean energy today”, said Phanindra P, Programme Director of the centre’s Renewable Energy Search. The speakers included the likes of Gujarat Energy Development Agency Director Dr V H Buch.

Even the Army celebrated the day with troops and their families at Shahibaug, planting more than 6,000 saplings. The drive was led by General Commanding Officer of the Golden Katar Division, Major General S K Jha and President of Golden Katar Army Wives’ Welfare Association, Renu Jha.

World Environment Day (WED) was established by the UN General Assembly in 1972. Programmes are hosted by cities across five continents with a new theme each year. This year, Mexico City was the official host.
