Tiger killed in Itanagar zoo

The attackers,who first shot the tiger and then cut her into pieces,removed some intestines before escaping.

A Royal Bengal tigress was killed in its enclosure in the Itanagar zoo on Monday night in an incident in which the attackers chopped it into pieces before zoo guards raised an alarm,official sources here said.

“The tigress was shot from close range. It was born in this zoo…and was in good health. We have lodged an FIR and investigations are on,” B S Sajwan,Principal Chief Conservator of Forests of Arunachal Pradesh said. The attackers,who first shot the tiger and then cut her into pieces,removed some intestines before escaping.

“We are yet to ascertain what the motive was behind this killing,” Sajwan said.
