Till new LPG filling stations come up,no challan against petrol,diesel autos

Also,the hearing in the two PIL cases pending in the Punjab and Haryana High Court would be held on September 5 and September 9. Separate petitions were filed by the All Mohali District Autorickshaw Workers’ Union and Chandigarh Autorickshaw Union challenging the UT Administration’s decision of making it mandatory for autorickshaws to run on Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG),after August 31.

The Administration has called a special meeting on Tuesday to decide on the next course of action in the case. The meeting will be chaired by Secretary (Transport) Ram Niwas and attended by STA Secretary Vandana Disodia,Deputy Commissioner R K Rao,Senior Standing Counsel Anupam Gupta,Additional Commissioner-cum-Chief Fire Officer T K Sharma,Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) S S Srivastava and Director,Chandigarh Industrial and Tourism Development Corporation Limited,D K Tiwari.

Even as the autorickshaw union leaders in Chandigarh,Panchkula and Mohali sought participation in Tuesday’s meeting,the Administration denied it.

On this,Disodia said,“The Administration has already heard their demands. Now,the course of action needs to be chalked out and it will be done among the Administration officials only.” It is pertinent to mention here that there were repeated protests by autorickshaw operators against the Administration’s earlier deadline of August 31,as the availability of LPG fuel was not adequate.
