At least five lakh people are expected to attend Telugu film star Chiranjeevi’s maiden public meeting at Tirupati on Tuesday where he will announce his party’s name, symbol and flag. The film star chose Mother Teresa’s birth anniversary to launch his new party from the temple town saying that he has been influenced by her life that she dedicated to serving the poor. The film star will also announce his party’s manifesto and plans for the next election. He is also likely to introduce his aides who may be later nominated as the party’s office-bearers.
The meeting is to be held at the Avilala Tank ground in Tirupati from 4 pm to 7 pm. Though Chiranjeevi would be accompanied on the stage by several politicians who quit either the TDP or the Congress to join his party, only Chiranjeevi will address the people coming from across the state.
At least half-a-dozen special trains, over 700 buses and chartered flights have been requisitioned by Chiranjeevi’s party to take his fans, followers and friends to the venue. Two trains from Secunderabad will take hundreds of volunteers to the venue who helped the film star organise the entire programme.
“At least five lakh people are expected to turn up at the venue. We are arranging for food and refreshments. Chiranjeevi fan clubs are making the arrangements. Fans and volunteers will also assist the police in managing the crowds,” Chiranjeevi’s media spokesperson Satti Babu says.
Chiranjeevi’s aides and political leaders who are expecting tickets to contest the next election have been asked to arrange for transport and other arrangements for fans and followers from various districts. At least 300 NRI admirers of Chiranjeevi, who have been touring the state to seek public support for him, would also be present.
