Through out his career, Vivek Gupta has seen his uncle Harendra Gupta practicing or taking part in events at the Chandigarh Golf Club. The golfer, who is nephew of former caddie Harendra gupta, also works as a caddie at the Chandigarh Golf Club and on Monday, Vivek proved that he is following his uncle as he won the title in the inaugural Caddies Golf Tournament held at Chandigah Golf Club. The younger Gupta returned with a score of 77 to claim the title in the tournament.
"It's a moment to remember in my career. It's my first win at a tournament in Chandigarh Golf Club and I am thankfull to the management for organising such an event for the caddies at the club. The conditions were tough today and the weather was extremely cold. The win has come at a right time for me. It will motivate me for the tournaments ahead," said Gupta. The second place was grabbed by Sunder who carded a score of 82 while Monty claimed the third spot after winning in the count back. Out of the participants, Amritlal was the youngest participant at the age of 13 years. The tournament is expected to be held on a quarterly basis and the caddies golfers are happy to take part in the event. "It's a exciting tournament for caddies like us. The fact that it happened at our home course meant a lot for us and also saved our travel expenses. Most of the caddies have grown up learning golf here and it was morale boosting tournament for us," shared Sunder. Bobby Sandhu, captain of the course, gave away the prizes to the winners.
