Protima Dutta, the widow of Trinamool Congress leader Tapan Dutta who was killed in May last year, on Monday filed an application in the Calcutta High Court alleging that she was not provided police security after June 28. On June 28, the high court had directed the state to file an affidavit after hearing Protima's petition seeking a CBI investigation into the killing of her husband. She had named a Trinamool Congress minister as one of the conspirators in the murder.
In the petition, Protima alleged that antisocials had threatened her on July 3 in the Howrah court where she was attending the hearing of the framing of charges. The accused persons, who are on bail now, appeared in the Howrah court and their aides allegedly threatened Protima in the courtroom, stated the petition.
After the killing of Tapan Dutta last year, the Howrah police provided security to Protima. But after the high court order, the security personnel did not attend to her even after she requested the police station, Protima said. She alleged that Howrah Police Commissioner took no action.
