  • A youth made an extortion call to the owner of an embroidery unit in the city where he worked to get money for his marriage.

The accused demanded one crore rupees from the embroidery unit owner. The police later arrested the accused and have started the investigation in the case.

According to details, Shyam Yadav (23), a resident of Nawagam Dindoli, called Pawan Kumar Agrawal who runs an embroidery unit at Udhna Magdalla road in partnership with Amit Mitta.

Shyam called Pawan on October 23 on his mobile number and demanded Rs one crore to save his life. He told Pawan that he has received supari (contract) to kill him. Shyam told Pawan that if he was paid the amount he would kill the person who had given him the murder contract.

Shyam called Pawan again on October 29 and then on November 2. Pawan then filed a complaint at Umra police station against the unknown caller. Police started the investigation and traced Shyam’s number.

Shyam later confessed to his crime.

Special Operation Group Police Inspector S S Bareth said, “Shyam who worked at Pawan’s embroidery unit for last two years knew about a dispute between the two partners.”

Police said because of some dispute between the two partners some time back the two had ended their partnership. Following this, Pawan had become the sole owner of the unit for which he had to pay Rs 80 lakh to Agrawal. Pawan had paid Rs 40 lakh a few weeks ago and had to pay the remaining amount by end of December.
