While the Indian government is drawing up proposals to help with the speedy the return of veteran artist M F Husain to India, Jiya Prakashan is launching M F Husain-Untitled, an autobiographical e-book of the artist. “This e-book is just the beginning. We will take this campaign to every part of the country and all over the world,” Kamna Prasad, founder of Jiya Prakashan, said in a release.
The book will comprise sketches by Husain and will be released by contemporary artist Subodh Gupta on November 12 at The Ashok.
While several members of the art fraternity are expected to attend, a short presentation of the book will also take place during the event. In addition, Husain will address the audience through tele-conferencing.
The 94-year-old artist has been living in exile since 2006 after a series of cases were filed against him accusing him of allegedly hurting religious sentiments with his depiction of Hindu gods and goddesses.
Less than a fortnight ago, while speaking to The Indian Express over the phone, the artist had expressed his desire to return to India.
“I’m dying to come back but the decision is not in my hand. It is up to the state, government and law,” he said.
