Asking J&K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to strongly lay down the law and ensure the writ of the state as protests rock the Valley,New Delhi is also said to have advised him to effect a revamp of his administration.

Sources said Chief Secretary Sham Singh Kapur and DGP Kuldeep Khoda may be asked to move out.

The Centre has made “normalcy,” and restoration of civil order a priority. It has made it clear that it backs the Abdullah government “totally” at this stage but is also keen that the CM get his act together and be seen as firm yet responsive to the unrest and anger in the Valley.

Sources said such a change in the top civillian officers could well be used as a signal that the elected government is responding to the anger on the street.
